Pleasant stay, though room was noisy in the mornings with the sound coming from the breakfast room. Breakfast itself was very good.

Exactly the kind of hotel I love to stay at. The rooms are clean and nice, the bathroom is large enough to be comfortable even for a long stay and the crew is polite and friendly. The 24/7 shop right across the street and the 2 minutes walk to the Paddington underground station just make it better. I'll go back for sure.

I booked this hotel specifically because it had a lift, but when I arrived the lift was not operating and still not operating when I left. Continental breakfast cornflakes only for cereal, yoghurt but no fruit-ham and cheese were included if you wanted it. Rooms well tended for, though sone water damage to wallpaper on tsterior walls. Overall OK for reasonable price,

Hotel is okay - a little worn out in terms of wall-paper and bathroom. But the rate commensurate with what you can get in London for that price. No lift so so have to carry your own luggage up the stairs! Good location. Cleanliness is fair - I have seen worse ones!

very below average hotel but what do you expect for <100 pounds in London. Breakfast was ok, best part of stay. Would definately not recommend for a romantic extended stay in London, ok for one night desperation.

best feature is it's location.single room very tiny, however, clean and bed comfortable.fair bit of noise from other rooms and outside street.narrow steep staircases could pose a problem for some people, there is only one ancient lift.english breakfast good.a cheap hotel, don't expect much.

Hotel location was excellent, being very close to Paddington Tube Station and numerous bars and restaurants.
The hotel's decor appeared rather old and faded.
The room was clean, comfortable and quite spacious for a single room. The decor and furniture was however quite old and faded. A good selection of channels were available on the television. However there was no remote control.
The continental breakfast seemed quite limited and without many options. The hotel does not have it's own Bar.
Although the hotel is quite basic, I would recommend it for a short stay.

ok for the money and great spot for getting out and about around London. Tiny bathroom but hey it did the job. For the price it was better than i expected. Have stayed in a lot worse for same money

A bit of a mix up on the room arrangements. Good breakfast. Great tea. Clean room, bed, walls, great views from the top floor, friendly staff. I've had better, but for the price, actually a good deal. I'd recommend it from September to June. Time of the year makes a difference. Great location!

Very good value for money. Nice and clean, friendly staff, very good bed, very small but ok bathroom, lovely view over Norfolk Square. Perfect location, nice pubs around.

Adequate for a couple of nights and very good value for money. The rooms were small but clean and comfortable.

I agree with the shower head/taps comments below..they still haven't fixed it and on complaining three times they eventually moved me another room...AWFUL, SMELLY, TINY, DRAUGHTY, I could continue! Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Also toilets in reception area were the worst I have ever seen, public or otherwise. The Pizza place next door was nice enough but they share the toilets and believe me, you wouldn't feel like eating after going in there.

I travel frequently on business in the UK and have stayed at many hotels - some good, some bad. I'm afraid this hotel falls into the latter category. The room, although fairly clean was tiny as was the bathroom which appeared to occupy what was once a wardrobe space. When the flush on the loo was pulled, waste water would erupt from the sink plug hole which stank. The shower wasn't properly attached to the wall so when showering, the water would only run down the wall. The satelitte coverage on the TV was non-existent and the batteries in the remote control had long died. The breakfast was awful. No cereal and the fried breakfast was horrendous with oregano sprinkled over the mushrooms (from a tin) and beans.

I was only there for one night so put up with it. I would not stay there again and would certainly advise others to avoid.

Does the job for a cheap B&B not far from central London. Rooms are basic-beds are comfortable and I was happy to see there's a TV in the room. Bathroom could be improved by being able to attach the hand-held shower unit to the wall at head height, rather than at about 1 foot about the taps - not very practical/well-designed! (also, a shower curtain would have been useful!).
Breakfast was tasty but on the small side.
Spanish-looking receptionist was cute and friendly, which was a nice bonus!
;-)
Good value - recommended for a short-stay in London when time spent in the hotel is going to be minimal (also v.good for access to Paddington Station).

second time Stay in June2003. Again very friendly Staff, nice Rooms. Good Breakfast (somtimes a little bit chaotic if all the guests appears at the same time)

Very noisy and chaotic in August. The rooms qere very cramped and the breakfast was poor. The situation is good and the rooms were clean

Great location. That's about it. They messed up our reservation and gave us a twin instead of a double, then couldn't move us, then said we couldn't have a refund (oh, I think not..). We only ended up staying one night and the room was the size of a matchbox....very basic....hilariously small bathroom in cupboard. How this got its 3 star rating we'll never know. Stayed at the Blakemore 2nd night which is also 3 star and is in a totally different league! Caution advised.

Noisy, cramped and not particularly clean rooms. Smallest 'bathroom' I have ever seen. Breakfast arrangements chaotic.

Never been in a such lousy hotel.
Room to small, light but not plug available, batthroon in miserable condition, all hangers broken.
Satellite is science fiction.
Worst than a B&B Hotel.

This place was an absolute disappointment. The room had dirty carpets, walls and bathroom. It literally reeked of stale smoke - more like the pub than a bedroom. Only one window could be opened, and only by crawling over the bed and by standing on the ledge (also dirty). Fortunately, we were able to cancel after one night and found a lovely hotel just around the corner. It was a bit more expensive, but well worth it for cleanliness.

Dirty rooms, unhelpful staff (apart from the lady in the breakfast room) and small bathrooms. In addition, windows that couldn't be closed, so you heard the tube passing every five minutes.
Not a pleasant experience at all.

having stayed in some of the other hotels in the area this one wasnt one of the best, but for the money it`s not to bad.

Although the bed was clean and comfortable, the carpet and the bathroom were filthy. The breakfast was actually pretty good. The hotel is in an excellent location to reach Hyde Park and Buckingham Palace or the Thames in less than 15 minutes walk.
May be quite loud at night as London Street is pretty busy, but there are quiet rooms as well. If it was cleaner the hotel would be just fine.

Stayed here in March 2002; friendly staff, smallish but comfortable rooms, can't beat the location, overall great value. Recommended.

The rooms are very small. The shower room is so small it is nearly impossible to use and the hot water tab produces a trickle of luke warm water. The 'full English breakfast' is poor as is the restaurant service. Not to be recommended.

I can't actually say I'm a past guest of the hotel because even though I had a valid reservation, I couldn't actually stay there. When we arrived on the Saturday morning to check in, we were informed that the front desk had no knowledge of my booking - despite the fact that they had already taken £54 from my account. The clerk was very gracious and got on the phone to the hotel manager who informed her that for some reason we couldn't have our room and he had booked us around the corner at the Pacific Hotel (therein lies another story). Because I didn't have the foreknowledge of a problem, I didn't think to bring my bank statements showing that payment had already been taken, and for that, I had to pay out another £54 at the next hotel. I am still trying to recover my money from the Royal Norfolk (over a month since it was taken and 10 days since the aborted reservation).

When I arrived I found the room to be little more than a cupboard, the TV did not work and the room reaked of cigarette smoke. I was treated dreadfully and am putting in a formal complaint about the awful standard of this hotel. DO NOT GO THERE!!

I am a student traveler, so I don't have very posh tastes when it comes to hotels and hostels, but the Royal Norfolk is the WORST hotel I've ever stayed in. They messed up our reservation each of the 3 nights we were there, we never had a working shower, and one of the rooms was filthy and smelled awful. The staff was no help at all. You could not pay me to stay here again. Judging by the other comments, it's possible that I just had a bad experience, but I wouldn't take the risk.

Excellent value for money - clean, comfortable, friendly staff. Very convenient for underground with a direct line to Picadilly Circus. Room rather hot and bathroom a bit cramped. Also some noise in room from nearby Circle Underground cutting. Would definitely stay here again.

Excellent price and location. Hopefully you will have Eurosport channel next time.

Very good location - only across road from tube station. Bargain prices for London however, rooms were very small. Quite a few problems with room - no lights working in bedroom, no kettle and drains blocked in bathroom.

A nice hotel, price/quality ratio was just exellent. Staff was nice and the hotel was half a minute from Paddington underground station. If only there was more pressure in the shower....

Clean and Quiet. Room was small compared to American standards, but comfortable. Staff was very gracious and helpful. Extremely convenient to Paddington Station. Good pubs/restaurants in area.

Quiet and clean. Very helpful and pleasant staff. Room was quite small by American standards, but still comfortable. Couldn't ask for a better price in London. Very easy access to Paddington Station. Good pubs and restaurants in area as well.

Good location and great value for £29, but the room temperature was hot (could not turn down the heat on radiator..) and there was no hot water in the bathroom...
